Do you remember those years as a kid whilst scrolling through your parents and grandparent’s photo albums? Perhaps with giggles, laughter and joy while looking at how beautiful you and your family were (and of course still are) in the pages in front of you? Family photos give a lifetime of reward but how often do you wish you had a professional family portrait of your loved ones that you could prominently display on the walls of your home? You might not get the feeling straight away but in the years to come you will look back on your photography session and be amazed where you and your family have come and how much they have grown
Family portrait photography is more than just a few nice photographs; it’s about capturing the essence of your family at a point in time. To help with this, it’s important to consider your family’s interests and passions as it can assist in determining how to organise your family portrait session. Maybe you and your family enjoy sports and would like fun photographs in your sports gear. Or perhaps your family enjoys going to the beach and would like beautiful photos by the ocean. We can photograph you and your loved ones in a location of your choice.
With our mobile studio we also offer traditional family portraits with a clean crisp white or black background. Our mobile studio offers the luxury a professional photoshoot in the comfort of your home (which might be perfect for families with babies, toddlers and even pets!).
With our flexibility and creativity, we know that you will love our photography style and finesse. Our family photography sessions are fun, relaxed and capture the unique family connections that make you and your family so wonderful.
If you would like an outdoor location for your photoshoot it’s often best to be photographing 2 hours after sunrise or 2 hours before sunset. This gives more opportunities to ensure no nasty shadows are casting over your faces.
It seems so simple but pre-planning to ensure you and your family are dressed in the right attire can really help bring the family portrait together. Think about choosing colours and clothing that fit the style of your photoshoot which will really help make your photographs pop. For example, a family may choose to wear white crisp linens to a relaxed beach shoot however this might not work as well for a studio photography session with a white backdrop. Another style choice to consider is around formality. You may like photography where family members are dressed in suits, ties and cocktail attire. We would therefore recommend choosing a location that suites this type of style like New Farm or the Powerhouse. With available technology images are often stored on mobile phones or on digital hard drives and we can forget the significance of printing and displaying photographs. Whilst we offer digital images for all photographs we highly recommend printing your favourites to hang on your wall at home. Alternatively, if you can’t choose just one or two favourite photos a photobook or album to sit on your coffee table might be the perfect addition to your home. Understanding where your images will be displayed will more than likely influence the creative style. For example black and white photos might suit your home’s style as opposed to coloured prints. Or perhaps you have pops of aqua throughout your home and would like a photo which fits in with this theme. Including these considerations as part of your planning will really help tie in your family portraits to your interior style.
When our son was having his first birthday we wanted something special to remember the occasion. After looking for photographers we found Blank Canvas Photography and Jon who understood perfectly what we wanted to capture. They say never work with animals or children but Jon was great with our one year old and we have some incredible pictures to remember the occasion.
